Unless (for some players) you had a decent or high pocket pair, hit a high hole card for a high boat, or thought you could make a move on a weak acting caller. But close examination of those 3 circumstances indicates situations (I suspect) which statistically will occur less than someone hitting nothing or easily foldable cards. So you have better value by not pushing for rare circumstances early in the hand.

An exception to this might be if you had multiple callers who began 'warming up' as the hand progresses. This is one of my dream situations. They get so caught up in hitting each other that you are able to just ride the action without drawing suspicion by raising. And you get to double (triple? etc) your winnings, hello! But it's also a rare thing. My main concern with quads is how do I need to be perceived in order for someone to really want to lean on me. Then, later on, the other guy is always like 'Man, I can't believe you had that. You just seemed so weak.' That's when I know I did the best I could (and got lucky heh.)I was in a donnybrook. The only way I way I can describe it. I'm holding
Q10o in the SB. There are 7 limpers to me, I limp. BB checks. The flop comes
10QQ. I'm in shock. I figure everyone's gonna fold. UTG+1 bets 2/3 pot. He gets 4 callers to me. I hesitate. I figure just long enough, then call. Button and BB fold. The turn x. UTG+1 bets 2/3 pot again. Again 4 callers to me,now I shove. I get 3 callers. River 10! Everyone checks...KACHING...Turns out UTG+1 had a queen, there was AA and KK and little ol' me. I must say I was concerned. I put UTG+1 on a 1010. After the the river 10 I closed my eyes and swallowed hard. That KACHING sound was music to my ears. Nothing like a little stress to go with your poker! The strange part is why the KK and AA limped? If they had of raised and reraised I would have folded. Strange game this poker. Then again I raised those same hands and have gotten creamed.
Bottom line is when flopping quads you have to give villian a chance to hit something also. You would be better off betting the turn especially if it's a low card. you could represent the boat this way and if villian has 2 overs a smallish bet may lure him to the river where he may hit one of the overs, thus making him feel like he has the nuts of that hand.
Patience is key here.
