.....New England Patriots, NFL, football, sports....."

The New England Patriots are looking at quite a different year from the last few seasons. As they face the fact that they may not be making a post season run, they are also dealing with numerous injuries. One such injury is to their backup cornerback Jason Webster, who was placed on injured reserve after week 13 because of an ankle injury. It is those kinds of injuries that also led the Patriots to bring back linebacker Rosevelt Colvin. Linebackers Eric Alexander, Pierre Woods and Adalius Thomas are all nursing injuries that leave the position shallow. Alexander is out for the rest of the season as he is on injured reserve. Fans can catch the final games of the season for the Patriots by reserving New England Patriots tickets.

Colvin has been with the Patriots for the last five seasons before they released him last February. He was picked up by the Houston Texans after being released, but they released him in August. Colvin hailed from Purdue, where he made All-Big Ten three years in a row. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round of the 1999 draft. His first year, he played in 11 games but started none. He had two sacks that season, showing his potential. He started eight out of the 13 games he played the next season, tallying three sacks, 48 tackles and two forced fumbles. He started 13 games in 2001 with 69 tackles 10.5 sacks, six passes defended and two interceptions. He started every game but one in 2002, tallying 64 tackles, 10.5 sacks and eight passes defended.

He was signed to the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent before the 2003 season. Unfortunately, he only got the play in the first two games of the season before being placed in injured reserve. He still managed to get two sacks. He played in every game the next season with one start for 32 tackles, five sacks and one pass defended. He started 11 out of the 16 games he played in during the 2005 season with 60 tackles and seven sacks. He had a similar season in 2006. He was having another great season in 2007 until he was placed on injured reserve at the end of November.

Webster is in his ninth season in the NFL and his first with the Patriots. So far this season, he has seen time in three games and tallied five tackles. He has spent the first four seasons of his career with the San Francisco 49ers before joining the Atlanta Falcons for three seasons. He was with the Buffalo Bills in 2007. In his career, he has tallied 346 tackles, 35 passes defended, 11 interceptions and two touchdowns. The Patriots have Lewis Sanders starting at left cornerback and Ellis Hobbs starting at right cornerback. They also have Jonathan Wilhite, Deltha O'Neal and Mike Richardson as backups. As of week 13, the Patriots are one game behind the New York Jets in the AFC East with a record of 7-5.
